Families covered: Sacheverell of Barton, Sacheverell of Ibwell, Sacheverell of Morley, Sacheverell of Radcliffe (Ratcliffe), Sacheverell of Reresby, Sacheverell of Stanton
Parts of the lower section of this page were previously released on a Temporary page. This family will be investigated further in due course (to cover, inter alia, Thorold's 'History of Nottinghamshire', vol 1, p97+).
Our sources contradict each other on the early generations of this family. We combine what they report from the Robert shown at the split of the page (i.e. the Robert shown as m1. _ Hopwell, m2. _ Sutton). Visitation (Nottinghamshire, 1662-4) shows him as son of John (a 1380) son (by Isabella) of William (d by 1360) son of William son of Robert of Bolton (a 1286) son of Patrick of Bolton (a 1249) son of Oliver 'de Saltu Capris' son of Robert de Sautcheverell of Bolton. Visitation (Nottinghamshire, 1569-1614), supported by Visitation (Leicestershire, 1619, Neele), shows him as son of Sir William (a temp Edward III who r. 1327-1377) son of Sir Robert son of Sir Patrick of Hopwell (a temp Edward I who r. 1272-1307). Provisionally, for the top section we follow Visitation (Warwickshire) but show it in italics to evidence our recommendation that it be viewed with much caution. | |||||||||||||||
