(1) This page was lunched on 30.06.05 and expanded on 15.09.17, using (we think) BP1934, BP1870 & BLG1952 and BLGI1912 respectively. It was reviewed on **.01.23 using Nichols. That review led to futher expansion of the page which, with a need to better identify what came from which source, led to some of the data previously shown below being moved to Wilmot03 & Wilmot04.
(2) Nichols, who provides the first 2 generations, reports that the following Robert "descended from an ancient family long seated at Sutton Bonyngton, Notts.".
(3) Nichols identifies the arms of Wilmot of Chaddesden & Shawell as "Sable, on a fess Or, between three eagles' heads, couped, Argent, as many escalops Gules; a canton Vaire, Ermine and Gules" and those of Wilmot of Osmaston as "Sable, on a fess Or, between three eagles' heads, couped, Argent, as many escalop shells Gules, all within a bordure engrailed of the second."
