Andrew Gray of Muirtown (d by 13.04.1541)
m. heiress of Scheves
1. Patrick Gray of Balgillo
Probably but not definitely sons of Andrew of Muirtown were Andrew and another (Alexander?). Under the entry for the 2nd Lord Gray, TSP reports an Andrew as a possible son of Andrew of Muirtown and a possible ancestor of Sir William of Pittendrum. Above the entry for the 8th Lord Grey, TSP reports that Thomas Gray of Brighouse (father of Sir William) was nephew (possibly grand-nephew ? the wording is rather ambiguous) of Andrew or Alexander of Scheves, son of Andrew of Muirtown. The following is somewhat presumptuous for the next generation and, not least because of concern about confusion between Andrew of Muirtown and Andrew of Cluny (of 2 generations earlier), may be reviewed in due course.

Commoners supports the earlier generations but disagrees with TSP & BP1934 for this generation by showing that it was the 2nd son, Robert, who was father of John of Crichie, later Lord Gray, rather than his brother David and in omitting their brother Alexander but inserting this John.
