BLG1952 describes Richard as "pensioner to Henry VII and Henry VIII" which indicates that he must have been at least of age when Henry VII died in 1509, this supporting the view that there was not an intervening generation between his father Hugh and Richard Fourneaux. Data on the next 2 generations are provided by the web site referred to below. TCP (Baltinglass) states "It is difficult to suppose that (the Viscount) belonged to the Derbyshire family of Roper of Heanor, whose arms ... differ so entirely from his own ... Yet in the Heraldic Visitation of Derbyshire, in 1634, ... some ground is given for such (the generally received) conjecture." | |||||||||||||||
