BEB1841 shows that the wives of Gilbert Stapleton of Carleton (Elizabeth), Sir Marmaduke Grimston then Sir Henry Brown (Mary) and Marmaduke Cholmley then Sir William Howard (Catherine) were daughters of Sir Philip, 1st Bart. Thoresby shows them as his sisters and attributes the marriages differently between the sisters. We follow Thoresby which is better supported by the cross-references from the other families except for the following Mary.
