According to BEB1841, this family "appears to have been an ancient family of Breda, in the Duchy of Brabant, and it deduced from Arnould Van Ceulen, who was living there in the year 1300." BEB1841 also reports that the following Richard "came into England on the persecution of the Protestants, in the Low Countries, by the Duke d'Alva".
