| Commoners reports that "Isted of Ecton came from Eysted, a large maritine town in the province of Schonen, in the kngdom of Sweden, and settled at Framfield, in Sussex, probaby in the time of Edward III where they enjoyed a considerable estate, some part of which continued in the family till 1718, when it was sold by Thomas Isted, esq. of Ecton."
