HoP ("Benjamin Hammett") reports that the following Sir Benjamin was son of a Taunton tradesman, being "a Taunton barber's son of little education" who became a footman and "made the conquest of his mistress's sister, the daughter of Esdaile the banker". It is not known whether or not he was connected with the Hammett family shown here.
