3. Hew Hamilton of Loughenas, later of Lisdevin in co. Tyrone (d 1637)
  m. Marion Gibbs (sister of James Gibbs)
'HamiltonHistory' (p717) shows that Hew & Marion were parents of George, Hugh, Frederick, John, William & Robert with Hugh, shown as 'of Lisdevin & Tullodowy', identified as father, by Agnes (dau of Lt. Col. James Galbraith), of James (Archdeacon of Raphoe), John, Margaret & Elizabeth. However, on p1017, that James is identified as eldest son of Andrew (prebendary of Kilskerry) by Rebecca, dau of Lt. Col. James Galbraith. On p995 is shown a different James as son of Hugh of Tullydowey by Agnes Galbraith. We suspect that the confusion has been caused by brothers (Hamiltons, could be cousins?) marrying sisters (Galbraiths). We speculate that (a) Andrew was another son of Hew & Marion; (b) Archdeacon James was son of Andrew & Rebecca; and (c) the James who was son of Hugh & Agnes was not the Archdeacon (of Mountgavelin') but was 'of Lisdevin'.
