BP1934 uses "Cairnis" as the family name until the generation which moved to Ireland and "Cairnes" thenafter. Nowadays, both "Cairnes" and "Cairns" are widely used. We switch from "Cairnis" to "Cairns" quite early on and then, for those who moved to Ireland, follow BP1934 is using "Cairnes".
