This page is still being researched. It has NOT yet been launched formally into the Database but is shown here TEMPORARILY (albeit for an uncertain length of time pending further research), partly to record connections that we fear we might otherwise lose sight of and partly in the hope that one or more visitors to the site will contribute information that will enable us to develop our information on the families covered in this page to a standard that would support release of a dedicated page in the Database.

We are not convinced by the identification given by 'BOTD', apparently reporting a report in "the Rose MSS, printed in the Aberdeen Notes and Queries", of the parents of the above-mentioned Helen Taylor.
?? Cheyne | |||||||||||||||
1. | M. Cheyne (parson of Kinoull)
'BOTD' suggests that Rev. Cheyne was "brother to the Laird of Esselmont". We are holding back from placing him on Cheyne03, which shows such lairds, until we gain more confidence in the identification of his alleged family. We are also holding back from placing his wife on Johnstone05 which shows the Johnstons of Caskieben but, somewhat arbitrarily, do make the following tentative connection to the Irvines of Drum.
