Having reported the early generations above, Noble (in 'Memoirs of the House of Cromwell' does not again pick up the pedigree of John Hampden, "The Patriot", until his grandfather Griffith Hampden. Lipscomb provides the next generation but follows the line of the younger son, Richard. Visitation does not start until the Sir Edmund who died c1420. That that Sir Edmund was son of John (Richard's elder brother) is shown by various web sites.
