Visitation (Devon) shows only Sir Richard's marriage to _ Tregian of Cornwall (shown as mother of Peter). BP1934 mentions only his 2nd wife Winfred Essex and notes that it was she who was mother of Peter (eldest son, no other children mentioned). Collins reports that Winifred Essex was his 2nd wife and names his 1st wife as as Elizabeth, dau of Sir John Arundell (1516, sp?). Noting that his aunt Elizabeth (or Mary) is shown as having married Sir John, we suspect that there has been some confusion between the Elizabeths. Provisionally we follow BP1934 in identifying Winifred as mother of Peter, leaving some uncertainty as to who was the mothe of the otherc hildren, but note that Vivian shows that they were all children of ... | |||||||||||||||
