| There is confusion between the generations of Bernards. We tried to follow the text within Burrows's book but found that difficult, ending up relying on a pedigree given later in the book. That pedigree confused this compiler by omitting the reported marriage of this Bernard with Emmeline Sands who is clearly referred to in the main text and who is shown by Visitation (Hampshire) as mother of William and the next Bernard. This contradiction, along with a concern about Bernard's wife Johanna Banbury, appears to have been resolved by the book's 'Corrigenda' but we have been left a little nervous! | |||||||||||||||
