Families covered: Blencowe of Hayes, Blencowe of Marston St. Lawrence, Blencow of Purston
Commoners reports that this family was "a branch of a very old Cumberland family, which had property at Greystock in that county". From this we presume that this family is a cadet of that shown on Blencowe1. Commoners also reports that this branch was seated at Marston "earlier than 1446".

BLG1952 omits this generation altogether. Noting that it is the last generation reported by Visitation (the dates & marriage being inserted by the Harleian editor), and that BLG1886 (Blescowe of Marston St. Lawrence) include it, we presume that BLG1952 was in error and follow Commoners & Visitation. This is supported by the lack of clarity in BLG1952 as to exactly how the undermentioned Samuel Jackson, later Blencowe, was connected to the family.
