Families covered: Ware of Dublin, Ware of Woodfort

Commoners reports that this family "claims a descent from Roger de Ware, lord of Isefield, and a baron of Parliament in the reign of Edward I" (who r. 1272-1307). Commoners starts with Christopher (a 1588), a Protestant who had fled from England in the time of Queen Mary but returned to England in the time of Queen Elizabeth. Christopher is shown as father of Sir James who in 1588 "accompanied Sir WIlliam Fitz-William, lord deputy of Ireland in the capacity of secretary". BLG1886 starts with a John "stated to have been of the family of Sir James Ware, Secretary to the Lord-Deputy Fitzwilliam". Somewhat arbitrarily, but noting that John's son married a sister of a Jacob Newman of Dublin whilst Sir James's son married a daughter of a Jacob Newman of Dublin (whom we presume was the same Jacob Newman), we presume that John was uncle of the first Sir James.
