[The 2nd & 3rd sections below were first uploaded to a Draft 'Marriott01' on 07.08.09 with the lower section added on 18.07.20. It was moved here after a review of that page, and of other families with the name Marriot(t), led to acceptance that, after adding a new upper section, there was little chance of our making a significant improvement to the page in the near future and that it was 'good enough' to be promoted into the main database.]

(1) We are surprised at the difficulty we have had in finding information on families with the name Marriott or Marriot. We are using this page to pull together what we have found on various branches, subject to the normal constraint on first having found a connection to someone elsewhere in the database.
(2) Commoners, used for the second section below, reports that "This family traditionally derives its patronymic from the town of Marriott in Normandy, whence three brothers Rudolphus, Augustin, and Gulielmus, are stated to have accompanied the Conqueror to England. From them several families have emanated and settled in Yorkshire, Leicestershire, and Kent."
(3) Hunter, in FMG, reported that "I find a Thomas Marriot of Ughill as early as 1310." The connected pedigree starts with ...
