HoP ("Francis Jobson") reports that "His northern origin may be traceable to the Thomas Jobson of Northumberland admitted to the freedom of Colchester in 1462, whose son William was to become one of the richest men in the town".

  (1) Foster, source of the above, shows Robert as 'of Cudworth' but, though he may well have bought that place, he appears to be the Robert of Skelsmergh, Westmorland, mentioned in VCH (Yorkshire, North Riding, vol 1, Parishes: Hauxwell) as father of Richard, Matthew & Thomas.
(2) Walker starts with Sir Frances Jobson of Colchester (a 1564, Lieutenant of the Tower of London) who, by Elizabeth (dau of Edward, Viscount Lisle), was father of Thomas of Cudworth and also John, Edward & Henry. We follow Foster.
