Showing Woodroffe here is speculative. TSP (vol 3, 'Elphinstone', p545) identifies Woodgrave Gascoigne, wife of Grizel, as "of the family of Gascoigne of Parlington, co. Yorks.". Placing him as of this generation seems to fit the dates of his wife & son with his name taken from his paternal grandmother. The following is supported by Wikipedia ("Charles Gascoigne', 02.01.25) which reports that Woodroffe was "deployed in Scotland after the Battle of Culloden in 1746." | |||||||||||||||
