Families covered: Cubitt of Catfield, Cubitt of Honing Hall, Cubitt of Mayton Hall, Cubitt of Yarmouth

BLG1886 ('Cubitt of Honing Hall') reports that this family "has been settled in Norfolk from a very early period". BLG1886 starts with Robert, father of Benedict (Mayor of Yarmouth in 1566) father of Thomas of Southrepps who, by Diana (dau of John Housegoe of Lynn), was father of John (Mayor of Yarmouth, later of Hickling) who, by Elizabeth (dau/heir of William Lynn of Bintree), was father of John + Benedict + Mary with Benedict being father of George of Catfield & Thomas of Honing Hall. Part of that is supported by Visitation (Norfolk, 1664, 'Cubitt") which starts with Thomas of South Repps (d before 16.10.1658) father (by Diana, dau of John Housgoe of Norfolk) of John of South Repps (a 1664, m. Elizabeth, dau/heir of William Lynn of Bintry) + Robert, + William of Gimmingham (d 1654, had issue), Thomas, Mary & Diana. However, it appears that further research into the family amended that view. BLG1952 supports the following.
