Families covered: Ashby of Loseby, Ashby of Quenby

Richard de Ashby of South Croxton & Quenby, Leicestershire (d 1304)
m. Alice (Camvill)
1. William Ashby of Quenby
  A. William Ashby of Quenby (a 1346)
Commoners reports that William "was assessed in 1346" which indicates that he was then of age. Although Commoners reports that he was father of Thomas (a 1458), we suspect that there is a generation missing here.
  i. ?? Ashby presumed intermediary generation
Visitation (Ashby) starts with the following Thomas.
a. Thomas Ashby of Quenby (a 1442, 1458)
  m. Catharine Hesilrige (dau of William Hesilrige of Noseley)

  m. Ambrose Nedham of Allexton
  (ii) Charles Ashby
  (D) Anne Ashby possibly of this generation
  m. John Curzon of Croxall
Visitation (Warwickshire, 1619, Catesby) identifies the above William as ancestor of Ashby families in Leicestershire. It therefore seems reasonable to make the following connection to another branch of Ashbys. The first mentioned by Visitation (Ashby of Loseby) was the following Thomas. Note that this connection has not been proved and so must therefore be viewed as presumptuous.
ii. Thomas Ashby of Loseby, Leicestershire (d 1422)
  m. Elizabeth
  a. Thomas Ashby (d 1433)
m1. Katherine Brett (dau of Robert Brett of Addington)
(1) William Ashby (dvp 1427)
m1. Agnes Poultney (dau of Sir Thomas (sb John?) Poultney)
  (A) Everard or Edward Ashby of Loseby
Everard is named Edward by Commoners which, in a note identifies him as brother rather than half-uncle of the Barbara who married Robert Ashby of Quenby (above).
