  BEB1841 reports that the last baronet was Sir Robert (dsp 1781, "in holy orders"), cousin of the above William (the younger). This would imply that Robert was probably son of one of these younger sons. However, TCB reports that, although there was such a Robert (Pinsent) who claimed the title as heir male, the claim was spurious. Robert, vicar of Kilmurry & Dunmoylin, was in fact son of Robert of Athy, son of William of Athy, son of William (rector of Athy) whose connection with the above is not known.

Anthony Petty of Romsey, Hampshire father of the wife of James Naper, possibly also of ...
1. Sir William Petty (b 27.05.1623, d 16.12.1687)
  BE1883 reports that Sir WIlliam was born in Romsey and identifies him as "the celebrated Surveyor-General of Ireland". TCP (Shelburne) points out that he was in fact only the acting Surveyor-General. Neither mention the fact that, according to Wikipedia (which identifies his father as a Hampshire clothier) and other sites, he was a significant political & academic scientist, economist & philosopher. In consideration of his work, his widow was created a Baroness for life and his sons (successively) were created Barons.
