Families covered: Peacocke of Barntic, Peacock of Finchley, Peacocke of Fort Etna, Peacocke of Graige, Peacocke of London, Peacock (Pecock) of Redborne
Their coats of arms indicate that the two families shown on this page were not related to each other. They share this page for our convenience. For the first family, Mundy spells the family name as 'Pecock' throughout but we use mainly 'Peacock' not least because that is what is used by most cross-references to the family whilst their coat of arms comprises 3 peacocks. The coat of arms of the second family is described by BP1870 as "Quarterly : or and az, over all, four lozenges, conjoined, in cross, between as many amulets, all counter-changed". The same (or very similar) coat of arms is shown in Visitation (London, 1633, Peacock) for a small pedigree which starts with "George Peacocke in Co. Bedford" but we have yet to find a connection with that family. It is noted that a Sir Stephen Peacock (or Pecocke) was Sheriff of London in 1527, Lord Mayor of London in 1533. [Dates from Wikipedia. One of his daughters is shown here.]

We have some confusion as to the early generations shown for the following family. BP1870 starts with Marmaduke "of the co. of York" whose 3rd son was George father of Marmaduke & George (father of Sir Joseph). Both BLG1886 & BLGI1912 start with George uncle of Richard & James, the latter being father of Edmund, George (father of Sir Joseph) & Marmaduke. The following follows BLG1886 & BLGI1912 except that we add a possible 1st generation.
