| We report on Durham02 that "An attempt to (review that page) using 'RedBookScot' (Gordon MacGregor, vol 6 (2024 edition), 'Durham of Pitkerro & Luffness', p134+) was curtailed because of difficulties in reconciling it with" what we showed there. Part of those difficulties related to the Durhams of Luffness, shown by Baronage to have descended from the following Adam, son of Sir James Durham of Pittkerrow (by a dau of Hepburn of Humbie) and brother of Sir Alexander Durham, Lord Lyon King of Arms (which descent we are provisionally folllowing), and father of James of Lufness (dsp), Adam of Lufess (had issue) and 4 daughters. MacGregor implies that Douglas (and others) have confused 2 different Sir James Durhams, with the father of James, Adam & daughters being Sir James of Lufness (by Isabel, dau of Sir Adam Hepburn of Humbie) who d 23.11.1668. | |||||||||||||||
