Foster shows Ellis as of Ilkley & High House in Addingham and identifies him as ancestor of Cunliffe Lister-Kaye. This appears to be supported by BLG1886 ('Kay of Farfield') which starts 'properly' with John of Fairfield Hall, identifying him as eldest son of Ellis of Ilkley (by Elizabeth Lister) and as grandson of Nicholas of Wycollar. HOWEVER, as reported at ## above, BPGY2001 ('Swinton') shows a differet ancestry for the Ellis who married Elizabeth Lister. Provisionally, noting that it would be rather disrespectful of us to contradict such a new source as BPGY2001, we show Ellis of Ilkley above.
