Maddison notes that Lacra is the the parish of Millom, Cumberland, where also was Graymains. We suspect (but have no proof) that this may have been the same person as Hugh Askew of Graymains. When Sir Hugh (below) died (sp), this Hugh might have been 'the head of the family' so might well have inherited something from him. 'Nepos' is normally taken to mean nephew but occasionally it was used to signify a more distant but still close relation, often of a younger generation. This Hugh's father was first cousin of Sir Hugh so he might have been termed nepos of Sir Hugh. | |||||||||||||||
