Families covered: Agard of Dunstall, Agard of Foston, Agard of Oslaston
[This page was first launched on 26.04.10 as a DRAFT page. It was moved here after review led to acceptance that there was little chance of our making a significant improvement to it in the near future and that it was 'good enough' to be promoted into the main database.]

We have obtained the impression that there were Agard families 'of Foston' in Derbyshire, some of whom also held lands also in Staffordshire, and that there were also Agard familes 'of Foston' in Staffordshire. [We suspect that some sources have confused the 2 places.] Some family members lived in Ireland for at least a time so there may even have been a place called Foston in Ireland (perhaps temporarily). Perhaps they were all connected, perhaps closely so, but we have not yet been able to find a reliable source which pulls them together. The Derbyshire Visitation would have been more helpful if it had identified where the various people were seated but it only rarely did so.
