We hope that in due course we will find out whether or not (and, if so, how) the following families were connected. These families all came from Northumberland and are presumed to have originated from the village of Horsley in that county. There is also a Horsley in Gloucestershire and a West & East Horsley in Surrey. The earliest connected pedigree we have found starts with the following Richard of whom Hodgson reports "Of his ancestors I have seen no account; but suppose he was a descendant of the Horsleys of Scranwood and Horsley." The arms of the following branch are shown as based on 3 cinquefoils.
