| BLG1952 reports on various people of earlier generations, going back to Robert le Tunhyrd who "in 1321 conveyed Wyberton, Lincs, to his son, Nicholas". BLG1886 (Tunnard of Frampton House) reports that "It is stated that MSS. in the British Museum make it appear that lands were held by, and granted to, this family at the period of the Norman Conquest." BLG1886 identifies an ancestor of this family as John Tonnard who was Sheriff of Lincoln about 1440 and then mentions Gregorie Tonnard (a 1524) father of Richard (d c1580) from whom 4th in descent was the undermentioned Thomas who m.
