Carthew identifies the arms of the following family as "Vert, three escallops argent, 3, 2, 1".
Thomas Thurlebye of Norfolk ("Gent.")
1. Thomas Thurlebye, Bishop of Norfolk then Ely (b c1506, d 26.08.1570)
Wikipedia ("Thomas Thirlby") reports that "Thomas Thirlby (or Thirleby; c.1506-1570) was the first and only bishop of Westminster (1540-50), and afterwards successively bishop of Norwich (1550-54) and bishop of Ely (1554-1559). Wikipedia identifies Thomas as "The son of John Thirleby, scrivener and town clerk of Cambridge, and Joan his wife". That contradicts Carthew.

Visitation shows the arms of the following family, without description or colour, as ten escallops on a plain shield, arranged in rows 4, 3, 2, 1. This suggests that there may have been a connection between this family and the one shown above.
