Given that the following family was permitted to base its arms on those of the earlier Roberts of Glassenbury, and as the heiress of that family devised Glassenbury into this family, it seems reasonable to assume that the following family was connected to those other Roberts. However, we do not know exactly how the connection arose.

After his half-brothers William then Randal Howland (who had been first in line to inherit) had died as minors, Thomas inherited Glassenbury from Jane, Duchess of St. Albans, even though the relationship was distant.
