The following is supported by FMG, and partly supported by VCH (Lancashire, vol 5, Parish of Prestwich with Oldham: Royton), both of which spell the family name as "Percival". Commoners reports that Thomas's will was dated 04.1702 and was proved in 1703. However, VCH refers to that but reports that Thomas was actually buried on 10.12.1694. FMG suggests that he died in 1693. VCH also reports that Thomas was summoned to attend the Herald's Visitation in 1664 (by Dugdale) but that no pedigree was recorded.

ii John Perceval of Somerset, later of Dublin (a 1595, d by 1629)
We are concerned that there has been duplication/confusion between John and his father. Commoners shows the same dates for John's father as it does for him. Our concern is not eased by the fact that BLGI1912 starts with this John, possibly indicating some uncertainty on his parentage, whilst the note above suggests that there may also have been some confusion relating to John's nephew Thomas.
