Families covered: Maule of Maule, Maule of Panmure
TSP reports that Maule was about 8 leagues from Paris. A contributor (Cornelia, 23.05.06) kindly drew our attention to the impressive site at www.maulefamily.com which, inter alia, includes a section on the origins of this family. We have yet to check what was reported by TSP against that site. TSP starts with ...

TSP suggests that, whilst various younger members of the family moved to England at the time of the Conquest, the founder of the Maules of Scotland, Robert de Maule, was probably a grandson of the first Peter, Lord of Maule. Robert was probably one of those who accompanied King David I on his return to Scotland from England.
