(1) Paterson reports Hugh married Jean Kennedy then adds that Robertson states that he married Margaret Blair "so he must have been twice married". It seems that he also married Margaret Crawfurd. (2) Paterson mentions Hugh's son Thomas and 2 surviving daughters, the heiress of Ardmillan (who carried Ardmillan into the Craufuird family) and Lady Kennedy. BLG1886 ('Craufuird of Ardmillan') identifies the mother of the first daughter as Margaret Blair. Provisionally we follow TSP (vol 2, Cassilis, p488) & BP1934 ('Ailsa') which suggest that Lady Kennedy's father was Hugh's sister rather than his daughter. |
