William Hamilton, 1st of Wishaw (d 12.1636)

1. | James Hamilton, 2nd of Wishaw (dsp by 1654)
2. | John Hamilton, 3rd of Wishaw (dsp 1666)
TSP reports that William (John's younger brother) "acquired the rights of his immediate elder brother to the property and was styled third of Wishaw". It is not clear whether that acquisition was before or after the death of their brother James. 'HamiltonHistory' does not refer to that but reports that John succeeded James and shows him as 3rd of Wishaw. Henceforth, we show the lairds with both numberings: 'HH'/TSP.
