BP1934 (both relevant sections) identifies the 3rd son as John William, ancestor of Foster of Ballynascanlan. The following comes from BLG1886 (Foster of Ballymascanlan) which starts with a William Foster, 2nd son of Rev. Thomas and nephew of Anthony (Lord Chief Baron & father of Lord Oriel). That would suggest that BP1934 was wrong and that William was son of the Thomas shown just above. However, BLG1886 shows William as having married Patience Fowke in 1743 which indicates that he was of this generation and was probably younger brother rather than nephew of Anthony, the Lord Chief Baron. Provisionally, we in effect compromise between these sources and show this to have been the William who married ... | |||||||||||||||
