Nichols (p941) reports that the orginal arms of this family were "Azure, on a chevron Argent, between three lamps Or, burning with a flame proper, a leopard's head Gules, between two estoiles Azure" but that they were altered in 1663 (by protonotary George, below) to "Sable, a chevron between three lamps Argent enflamed proper".
