A. Sir William Cockburn, 1st Bart of Langton (b c1570, d c12.1628)
  TCB (vol 2, 'Cockburn of Langton', p327) identifies this Sir William as the 1st Baronet but BP1870 identifies his son William as the one who obtained that honour. Cockburn-Wood (p87) suggests that it was his son William who "had the hereditary title conferred upon him immediately after his father's death". We follow TCB and so henceforth disagree with BP1870 & 'History of Cockburn' as to the numberings.
