[Much of this page was previously given on BZmisc29, based on Chauncy's work. It was moved here to facilitate review & expansion using Nichols & Clutterbuck.]
Chauncy (p337) suggests that the name of the following family was shown as Bellers as well as Billers, being originally from Kerby Bellers in Leicestershire. Wikipedia ("William Billiers") supports the view that the family "originated from Kirby Bellars".

Chauncy does not follow this line further, identifying a William as the eldest son. VCH (Hertfordshire, vol 3, 'Parishes: Thorley') refers to the acquisition of Thorley Manor by William's father John and reports that William sold it in 1714. This appears to be the following Sir William, details of whom come from Nichols & Clutterbuck with some support from Wikipedia ("William Billiers").
