BLG1847 reports that "The ancestors of this family were seated, from a very early period, in the north of Lancashire, where they maintained a highly respectable position." The reference to Poulton would suggest that this family was closely connected to the family shown above but BLG1847 identifies the arms of ths family as "az., two bars, ermine, in chief, three suns, or" which is very different to the arms shown for the above family.
