The Harleian editor notes that "There is evidently some confusion here which the state of the MS. will not help to clear up." Apart from showing this William as having a brother William, Visitation (1558) shows this William as having 3 sons, William of Upminster (m.? Amicia or Anna, dau of William Strangman), Thomas and Rauff with that Rauff having 2 sons both called William, that same William of Upminster plus a William of Sandon. Visitation (1634) starts with that Raffe but then shows just William of Sandon albeit identifying him as 2nd son of Raffe.
