Families covered: Bowles of Burford, Boweles (Bowles) of Rushall, Bowles of Wanstead Grove

Unfortunately Glazebrook does not identify the arms of the following family but, noting that he spells the family name within the title of the section as Bowles, we show it at the top of this page as it is the earliest of the families below. Noting that later families called Bowles appear to have been descended from the family shown on Bolle1, we suspect that this family was as well.

The following comes from CountyGen (Berry, Kent (1830), 'Bowle', p357) & Visitation (Kent, 1619, 'Bowle'). Berry identifies the arms of the following family as "Az., three cups, in each a boars' head, erect, or" whilst Visitation identifies it as "Azure, three cups or, in each a boars' head erect argent". Both indicate a clear connection to the family shown on Bolle1.
